Compound Overview
Tesemorelin is a synthetic analogue of human growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), comprising the full 44-amino-acid GRF(1-44) sequence with an N-terminal trans-3-hexenoic acid modification that enhances metabolic stability. It was developed by Theratechnologies Inc. and has been the subject of multiple clinical trials investigating its effects on the GH-IGF-1 axis.
The 20mg format provides a standard research unit suitable for dose-response studies, receptor binding assays, and comparative protocols against shorter GHRH fragments such as CJC-1295 (Mod GRF 1-29).
Mechanism of Action
GHRH Receptor Activation: Tesemorelin binds to and activates the GHRH receptor (GHRH-R) on anterior pituitary somatotroph cells. GHRH-R is a G-protein coupled receptor that signals through the cAMP/PKA pathway, stimulating pulsatile growth hormone gene transcription and secretion.
Full-Length vs Fragment: As a full-length GRF(1-44) analogue, Tesemorelin retains all receptor-binding and signalling domains of the native GHRH molecule. The trans-3-hexenoic acid modification reduces susceptibility to dipeptidyl peptidase-IV (DPP-IV) cleavage, extending the compound’s functional half-life compared to unmodified GHRH.
