Compound Overview
This composite combines two independently characterised neuropeptide analogues — Semax and Selank — in a single nasal delivery format for research protocols investigating concurrent neuropeptide pathway modulation.
Semax (ACTH(4-10) Analogue): A synthetic heptapeptide (Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro) derived from the ACTH(4-10) fragment. Developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics, Russian Academy of Sciences. Preclinical studies have reported modulation of BDNF and NGF expression, and effects on monoaminergic neurotransmission in rodent models.
Selank (Tuftsin Analogue): A synthetic heptapeptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) based on the endogenous tetrapeptide tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg), which is derived from the Fc region of immunoglobulin G. Also developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics. Selank has been studied in preclinical models for its interaction with GABAergic neurotransmission and enkephalin-degrading enzymes.
Mechanism of Action
Semax — Neurotrophic Signalling: Investigated for its effects on BDNF/NGF expression, monoaminergic neurotransmitter systems, and neuropeptide-processing enzyme activity in preclinical models.
Selank — GABAergic Modulation: Studied for its interaction with the GABAergic system, including effects on GABA transaminase activity and benzodiazepine binding sites in rodent brain tissue. Also investigated for modulation of enkephalinase activity and endogenous opioid peptide metabolism.
