Compound Overview
Kisspeptin-10 (KP-10) is the bioactive C-terminal decapeptide fragment of the KISS1 gene product, first characterised in the early 2000s following the identification of the KISS1 / GPR54 (KISS1R) signalling axis as a master regulator of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. The peptide has since been recognised as one of the most potent endogenous activators of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) neurones described in the published literature.
Kisspeptin has been studied across a broad range of research domains including reproductive endocrinology, puberty onset, GnRH pulsatility, metabolic-reproductive crosstalk, and hypothalamic neurobiology. It is widely regarded as a foundational research tool for investigating central control of the reproductive axis.
Mechanism of Action
Research has identified several pathways associated with Kisspeptin activity in preclinical models:
GPR54 / KISS1R Signalling: Kisspeptin-10 binds with high affinity to the KISS1R (GPR54) G-protein coupled receptor on hypothalamic GnRH neurones, triggering Gq/11-mediated phospholipase C activation, intracellular calcium mobilisation, and depolarisation of GnRH cell bodies in preclinical models.
HPG-Axis Research: Kisspeptin has been investigated for its role in stimulating pulsatile GnRH release, with downstream effects on luteinising hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) secretion observed in rodent and primate models.
Neuroendocrine Studies: Reports describe Kisspeptin-associated effects on puberty timing, ovulation cycles, and the integration of metabolic signals (leptin, insulin) with reproductive function in animal models.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Kisspeptin?
Kisspeptin refers to a family of peptides derived from the KISS1 gene that act as upstream regulators of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. They bind the KISS1R receptor (also known as GPR54). Kisspeptin is widely studied in reproductive endocrinology and puberty-onset research. CAS 374675-21-5.
What is the purity of this peptide?
BioCompounds UK supplies HPLC-verified research-grade material. Selected batches undergo independent third-party analysis by Janoshik Analytical, with current published Certificates of Analysis available on our batch verification page when applicable.
What is the half-life of Kisspeptin?
Kisspeptin-10 (the shortest active fragment) has a very short half-life of approximately 4 minutes in published research models. Continuous-infusion or repeated-bolus protocols are typical in research design.
What is Kisspeptin primarily studied for?
Research interest centres on Kisspeptin’s role in GnRH neuron activation, LH/FSH pulse generation, and the reproductive axis. It is also studied in metabolic, behavioural, and neuroendocrine contexts. See our Kisspeptin research guide for more.
How should this peptide be stored?
Storage depends on the format you have chosen:
- 10mg Vial (lyophilised powder): Store at -20°C in a sealed container, away from light and moisture. Once reconstituted, keep refrigerated between 2°C and 8°C and use within approximately four weeks.
- 3ml Cartridge (for reusable pen): Store refrigerated between 2°C and 8°C from arrival. Once opened, use within 3 months. Keep away from light.
- Disposable Ready-to-Use Pen: Store refrigerated between 2°C and 8°C from arrival. Once opened, use within 3 months. Keep away from light.
Full details are in our Peptide Storage Guide.
What formats is this available in?
This product is available in three research formats: a 10mg lyophilised vial, a 3ml cartridge for reusable research pens, and a ready-to-use disposable pen. Vials offer the most flexibility in reconstitution; cartridges and pens are calibrated for our standard equipment.
How fast is UK delivery?
Orders are typically dispatched within 24 hours via Royal Mail Tracked 24. During busier periods dispatch may extend to 48 hours. Free shipping on UK orders over £100. Full details on our Postage Guidance page.
Is this product legal in the UK?
All BioCompounds UK products are sold strictly for in-vitro laboratory research by qualified researchers aged 18 or over. They are not approved or intended for human or veterinary consumption, diagnostic, or therapeutic use. See our Terms of Purchase for full guidance.
