IGF-1 LR3 — Long Arg3 Insulin-Like Growth Factor
Growth Factor Research Peptide · 1mg Research Vial
Compound Overview
IGF-1 LR3 (Long Arg3 Insulin-Like Growth Factor 1) is a synthetic 83-amino-acid analogue of human IGF-1. Two structural modifications distinguish it from native IGF-1: a glutamic acid to arginine substitution at position 3 (Arg3), and a 13-amino-acid N-terminal extension peptide. These modifications reduce binding affinity for IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs), increasing free-fraction bioavailability in research models.
Mechanism of Action
IGF-1 Receptor (IGF-1R): IGF-1 LR3 activates the IGF-1 receptor, a receptor tyrosine kinase that signals through PI3K/Akt and Ras/MAPK cascades. IGF-1R signalling is a central subject in cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival research.
Reduced IGFBP Binding: The Arg3 substitution and N-terminal extension reduce affinity for IGFBPs 1-6, resulting in a higher free fraction compared to native IGF-1. This property makes IGF-1 LR3 a useful research tool for studying IGF-1R activation independent of IGFBP sequestration.
